An AKD-designed agent that helps users interpret, explore, and validate Earth observation imagery and related dataset context inside NASA Worldview, grounded in authoritative Earth science sources and SME-reviewed guidance.
The iESO Agent for NASA Worldview is an AKD-designed, CARE-based agent design package for developing a reliable IESO-style chatbot agent for NASA Worldview. The agent is intended to help users interpret, explore, and validate Earth observation imagery and related dataset context inside NASA Worldview while remaining grounded in authoritative Earth science sources, Worldview behavior, and SME-reviewed guidance.
Inputs
- User questions in natural language about NASA Worldview imagery, layers, time ranges, and dataset context
- User intent categories, including scientific and operational interpretation needs
- Scenario-based scientific and operational test queries
Collaborative Design
The iESO Agent works collaboratively with users by helping them define or refine the discovery task through guided framing, such as science domain, search scope, and user expertise level.
The agent provides structured search support while users retain control over the scientific framing, assumptions, and final dataset selection. It is explicitly non-prescriptive: it does not endorse, select, or judge datasets for suitability. Instead, it surfaces candidate collections, explains the metadata basis for their inclusion, and highlights what users should verify manually.
